loss of parent, self-discovery

Along the Way

Today is a sad day. It is the one year anniversary of when my Mom died.

She was a kind and generous soul and had a smile that could light up the world.

Here is a picture of her when she was a senior in college. She was so unassumingly beautiful and quiet. I think this picture captures that perfectly.

I miss her a lot.

When I ‘talk’ to her now, I do know what she would say. I guess being lucky enough to have a wonderful Mom for 34 years, you learn a thing or two along the way.

  1. Thinking of your mom and you. Both you and your sister have some of her traits. You will use them well.

    1. I know I got her humor, her grace and unfortunately, her love of the Cubs. Two outta three ain’t bad!

  2. I am sure this is a tough week for you. As soon as I saw the photo of your mom, I immediately saw how much you look like her!

    1. It has been pretty rough and I’m glad I’m officially through that first year. And, thank you, I do look a ton like her. It’s comforting at times and sometimes it’s downright eerie when I do or say something just like her.

Hope you are feeling well. Looking forward to seeing you next week. I’m really enjoying the book (finally!).

  3. Oh your mother was gorgeous as are you. I am thinking of you both and always have you and your family in my prayers.
